Long Story, Short Bio
Rashad Houston was born and raised in Westchester County (914) & the Bronx, New York. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy & was stationed in San Diego, California. During his time in the military Rashad traveled the open seas & visited numerous countries around the World. During his service he had a dream to become a U.S. Navy SEAL, so he started the process. He trained daily to become physically & mentally ready for the tough road ahead. For 2 years he trained vigorously to prepare for BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training. Long runs on the beach, countless hours of exercise & mental preparation. But not every dream comes true. Unfortunately, during this time he was seriously injured & other tragic situations ended his career in the military. After serving his Country Rashad was honorably discharged in 2008, and still resides in San Diego, California. Ever since his discharge he has dedicated all of his time to family and music. He has hopes of putting on a uniform for his Country again some day in the future. He's a very patriotic man who upholds military values each day of his life. Pouring his soul into his music he paints a vivid picture of his life & the environment around us all. Rashad has always been a writer, from poetry to short stories. The words he expresses deal with the environment around him. What he witnesses, what others see, the whole spectrum. He’s an 80's baby so his vision for this generation is to bring back the essence of Hip-Hop. In his short 23 years on this Earth he’s had to, along with many others around him, grow up faster and mature ahead of his years. Never using anything in his life as an excuse, he just picks up the pen and let’s the ink bleed. He uses his experiences as a driving force in his music. The goal is to inspire people, and to make music we all can relate to. His words are an escape to a place no one can interrupt him. You won’t catch him saying things like, "I Am Hip-Hop," "I'm Nice," "I'm The Best." But, he knows he has something to offer the World. So take some time to sit back and listen, because the resurrection of true hip-hop has begun. Open your minds to the sound of Rashad Houston.

Keith A. Glascoe - 9/11 Hero

As two great symbols burned you ran toward the smoke
Too many words to describe the heroism you evoke
Bravery runs through your veins, you’re the true definition of a man
Not afraid to risk your life to give another a helping hand
As the days turn to years I still manage to get through
I’ll never forget 9/ll and all the Heroes,
I’ll Never Forget You
Love Your Brother in Christ,
Rashad Houston

Been A Long Time...
It's been a long time since I've been on my "own" blog. I need to get back on this writing. But truthfully I've been focused on my writing, musically that is. I've been working on my new mixtape "Love & Pain," and you would think I'm signed to a major label with all the release dates I've been putting out. It's been a long, stressful journey working on this mixtape/album. But I'm gonna get this done, I just don't want it to be a rushed piece of work. So, give it some time, be patient. I'm looking to drop this mixtape on 9/11/09... fits the whole concept. So be on the lookout. God Bless All.
Oh hold up hold up hold up! I'm being featured on a new website called Future Moguls Media Group. Go check out the article! ----> http://www.fmmediagroup.com/?m=200908

"My Son Is My Hero" Video -- Celebrating 1 Year
As you know, I recently made a song about my son entitled "My Son Is My Hero." The song is a lyrical journey through the first year of my son's life. Now, I accompany the song with the visual aspect of his life, using pictures taken throughout this year. This is something that I hold special to me. I hope you enjoy it, respect.

I Am The Ink On Paper (Dedicated To Poetry)
My poetry is an expression of endless emotions
Life can take you high, but can crash like waves in the ocean
Compare my words to your feelings call it lyrical motion
Look close and you can see one man's devotion
Poets are not made we are born to spread reality
Observation of my thoughts is a view of my mentality
Words flow like water from one line to the next
Flaws of society hide within the context
Great ideas also come from this poetic atmosphere
I'm here as a visionary to make your visions more clear
When you witness my pen float smooth across a page
Observe a man with a message of knowledge beyond his age
The words are the ingredients my life is the flavor
Life lessons learned I Am The Ink On Paper
And as I quickly progress through different situations
I encounter the good and bad of God's creations
So I use poetry and view it as a language of my own
Scripture settles in your mind like words embedded in stone
My pen and paper are two things the world can never take away
And as I always say the past is the past and I'm living for today
I inhale and exhale this language called poetry
In this life and after death poetry is me
